Les Mamelles’ less fortunate get a treat for Christmas

Mr Fideria chats with a group of elderly over lunch

The event – an initiative of the district’s Member of National Assembly Emmanuel Fideria – brought together people who would have normally not celebrated Christmas because they have no means to organise something special.

Mr Fideria said he made it his personal responsibility to make sure that for Christmas, as many people as possible receive care from the many people who have their well-being at heart.

“I got the support from my district team and also financial help from some sponsors like Acajou Hotel, Sodepak and Seychelles International Business Authority, and also many individuals who saw the initiative as one worth supporting,” he said.

The activity, being the first of its kind in the district, Mr Fideria said they will analyse how it went and identify areas that need to be worked on to make next year’s lunch even better.

“We are definitely planning to make it an annual event and we are hoping to have more sponsors next year so that we can have more people than the 30 we were able to cater for today.”

The invitees were certainly at ease during the event, with some preferring to catch up with old friends over a drink or two, and others talking to members of the district authorities who joined them for lunch.
