Splendid Ningxia Performing Group to perform on January 19 |14 January 2012

The show will take place at the International Conference Centre starting at 7pm. Tickets cost R25 and will go on sale on Monday January 16 at the National Cultural Centre and National Arts Council.

The Splendid Ningxia Performing Group, which will be arriving on Wednesday January 18, is part of the Ningxia Dance and Song Theatre Co. Ltd founded in 1958. It has a great number of dance dramas, featuring strong Muslim and Chinese flavours.

These include the Manseur, the Western Xia Fair Lady, the New Moon of the Country (Hui Dance Drama), Ningxia is a Wonderful Place, The Golden Kettle which was awarded first prize at the 9th National Dancing Competition, the Scenery of the Great River and Desert, as well as the famous original drama Huaer which won a golden prize at the 2nd China Ethic Minority Drama Competition.

Over the years, the theatre company has given performances in several countries and regions such as Canada, the United States, Austria, Hong Kong and Macao SAR.

It has also taken part in a series of major performances and events such as the Beijing Olympics, the Shanghai World Expo, the 2010 and 2011 CCTV Spring Festival galas and the celebrations of the 90th anniversary of the Founding of the Communist Party of China.
