Athlete Lissa Labiche

Chosen as runner-up to Sportswoman of the Year 2010 Janet Georges, athlete Lissa Labiche is also the outgoing Young Female Athlete of the Year. A second-time winner of the female athlete of the year title, high jumper Labiche did well in local and international competitions during the 2011 season.

Athlete Janet Boniface

Chosen once again as runner-up to best athlete Lissa Labiche, jumps specialist Boniface improved the Seychelles triple jump record to 12.95m at the Kenya National Athletics Championships to win the gold medal.

Badminton player Alisen Camille

Young Female Athlete of the Year 2009, Camille won two silver medals at the 10th All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique and captured a god medal at the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games held here. Curtain-raiser tournament ladies’ singles runner-up

Badminton player Cynthia Course



Chosen as runner-up to female badminton player of the year Alisen Camille, Cynthia Course enjoyed a rewarding 2011 season with two gold medals at the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games and a silver at the 10th All-Africa Games in Maputo, Mozambique.

Judoka Manuella Volcère

Female judoka Manuella Volcère of Praslin came close to clinching a medal at the 32nd African Senior Judo Championships in Dakar, Senegal, losing in the semifinal of the +78 kg category, missing out on winning Seychelles its first ever medal at the championship. She was a silver medallist at the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games.

Swimmer Shrone Austin

Shrone Austin is back as female swimmer of the year after her younger sister Shannon had won the title for three consecutive years (2008, 2009 and 2010).

Sportslady of the Year 2003, Shrone Austin was Seychelles’ top individual performer for the third time in a row at the Indian Ocean Island Games with 10 medals – five gold in the 400m freestyle, 200m butterfly, 800m freestyle, 200m individual medley and 400m individual medley, two silver in the 200m breaststroke and 4x200m freestyle relay, and three bronze in the 100m breaststroke, 4x100m medley relay and 4x100m freestyle relay – at the 8th IOIG held here. She has won the Young Female Athlete of the Year title three times (in 2002, 2003 and 2005).

Table tennis player Anniessa Benstrong



Based in China where she is studying, Anniessa Benstrong won Seychelles its first ever gold medal at the Indian Ocean Island Games.

Volleyballer Nathalie Agnes

Volleyballer Nathalie Agnes, who plays as setter for Neuville Sports in the Nationale 2 Féminine Poule A, captained Seychelles to victory at the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games.
This is the second time she wins the female volleyballer of the year title.

 Weightlifter Janet Georges

Four-time outgoing Sportswoman of the Year Janet Georges was a triple gold medallist at the 8th Indian Ocean Island Games. At the African Senior Championship held in conjunction with the Commonwealth Youth, Junior and Senior Championship, she completed a clean sweep for the fifth time in the women’s 69kg division, finishing with an Olympic total of 206kg (snatch 96kg and clean & jerk 110kg) to also win the Commonwealth senior championship silver medal.

. IOIG three-time gold medallist in the 75kg category with 90kg in snatch and 110kg in clean & jerk
. African Senior championship three-time gold medallist in the 75kg category with 96kg in snatch and 110kg in clean & jerk
. Commonwealth Senior Championship silver medallist in the 75kg category with 96kg in snatch and 110kg in clean& jerk
. Ranked 26th out of 35 at the World Championship in Paris, France

Weightlifter Katsia Télémaque

Winner of three gold medals at the 8th Indian Ocean Island games, Katsia Télémaque captured three silver medals in the 48kg category of the African senior championship after snatching 65kg and finishing with 79kg in the clean & jerk for a 144kg total. The same performance won her a bronze medal in the senior Commonwealth Championship.
