SLA launches new website |01 February 2012

The website, which is a first for the authority, was launched by Vice-President Danny Faure in the presence of SLA board members and management staff as well as representatives of Comesa (Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa).

The SLA has undertaken a process to modernise the way it does business and the launching of the new website constitutes a major step in that direction.

This process started with the introduction of a new modern Licencing Act in November 2010 which was followed by new regulations which were brought into force in 2011 which includes extending most licences for a minimum period of five years as opposed to one year only.

Most license fees were also revised to cover only administrative costs of issuing the licences as laid down in the new Act.

The website aims at giving the public, especially the business community, access to written information about the organisation, the different licences, their regulations and fees.
Licence application forms can now be downloaded and enquiries can be made on-line.

The requirements and documents which must be submitted with any licence application are also included in the application forms.

With the new website the process of obtaining a licence should now be easier and more rapid.
