Tai Chi-New executive committee for local Wushu association

Vice professor Jianyong conducting a Wushu session last year at the NSC multipurpose hall

The committee was elected earlier this week during the association’s annual general meeting which took place at the National Sports Council (NSC) multipurpose hall at Roche Caïman.

The association is headed by Laushi (teacher) Seddick Fanny Al Abdullah as chairman and head of school.

He will be helped by fellow Laushi Jocelyn Cupidon. Agnela Lucas-Fanchette is the secretary, while Marivonne Rose will assume the responsibilities of treasurer and manager. James Payet is the association’s only ordinary member.

The WSA is offering Tai Chi sessions every Monday and Thursday at the NSC multipurpose hall from 5pm to 6.30pm.
Registration fees for the sessions are R100 for adults and R50 for under 18-year-olds and students.

All those wishing to attend the session can contact Laushi Seddick Fanny Al Abdullah on either 2565981 or 2584879 or the association’s email address seychelleswushu@yahoo.com.

Both Laushis Al Abdullah and Cupidon attended a six-week intensive training programme in the art of wushu in the Chinese province of Qing Dao, in 2010.

So far, over 40 members have registered and more people are showing an interest in joining.

The SWA launched its induction programme last year with a series of session conducted by Zhang Jianyong, a 41-year-old vice professor and Wushu teacher at the Beijing Institute of Petrochemical Technology.
