Police files-Convict earns more years for theft |14 February 2012

A magistrate’s court sentenced Philoe to a total of 17 years for another three housebreaking, one burglary and two attempted burglary cases which occurred last year in the south of Mahe.

Philoe’s 17 years prison term will begin upon the completion of the five-year term he is currently serving.

Sentenced also yesterday was Perry Confait of La Louise. The magistrate court found him guilty of stealing and convicted him to six months imprisonment.

Meanwhile, a 25-year-old unemployed man of Anse Aux Pins was yesterday remanded in police custody for robbery with violence and actual bodily harm. The suspect will appear before the magistrate again on February 20.

The police have also reported that a 21-year-old male of Anse Aux Pins, a suspect in several cases of housebreaking and stealing, has been remanded in police custody until February 27 when he will be brought before court again.
