Special traffic arrangements for carnival |02 March 2012

Today, the Francis Rachel Street up to the clock tower and State House Avenue will be closed. The Victoria Gymnasium, Court of Appeal and Stad Popiler carparks will close at 12 noon.

Members of the public and motorists should park their vehicles at the International Conference Centre (ICCS), Island Development Company (IDC), ex-Casamar, Marine Charter, Inter Island quay and Independence Avenue car parks.

Also today, the stretch of road between the traffic lights in front of Premier Building and the clock tower will be closed. At midnight, the Bois de Rose Avenue from the Animal Feed factory down to the Maison du Peuple will be closed for the setting up of the floats.

Motorists driving towards south Mahe can either use the Mont Fleuri road or the Latanier road leading to the Animal Feed factory.

Tomorrow, Saturday March 3, when the floats will tour Victoria, the Bois de Rose Avenue from the Palais des Sports roundabout to the Maison du Peuple will be closed from 1pm to 8pm.
Vehicles will only be able to use the side of the road from the Animal Feed factory heading to the Palais des Sports in cases of emergency.

All roads in town will be closed from 2pm to 8pm. But the land transport division has said vehicles heading to Anse Etoile can use the Castor Road, while those heading to town from Anse Etoile should take the Union Vale/Greenwich road to reach Revolution Avenue.

The following parking areas – ICCS, IDC and National Library – will be closed on Saturday.

Motorists are advised to use either the South or the Beau Vallon petrol stations on Saturday to avoid congestion.

Available parking areas will be as follows: Victoria Gymnasium, ex-Casamar, Marine Charter and Orion Mall.

On Sunday March 4, all parking areas, except the one at Stad Popiler, will be open to the public.
