She started her career as a supply teacher from January 1970 to December 1972. She then proceeded for training at the former Teacher Training College from January 1973 and graduated in 1975.

Mrs Wirtz has worked in the following schools: Les Mamelles, St Paul, Bel Ombre, Bel Eau and Beau Vallon primary.

She was very well respected by her colleagues and the pupils alike. She was a dedicated teacher who had a good sense of professionalism.

After serving the ministry for 41 years, Mrs Wirtz retired in December 2011.
The Ministry of Education, Employment and Human Resources wishes to thank Mrs Wirtz for her hard work and devotion throughout the years and wishes her a happy retirement.
