135 A-level students graduate-● Patricia Marie clinches President’s Cup

Their graduation ceremony was held at the International Conference Centre in the presence of Vice- President Danny Faure and the Opposition Leader in the National Assembly David Pierre.

Also present were the Education Minister Macsuzy Mondon, other ministers and high government officials as well as parents of the graduates.

During the ceremony Patricia Marie, a student who has demonstrated exemplary behaviour and has also taken part in many activities, won the prestigious President’s Cup.

Patricia also received an award for best performer in Accounting and she won the Positive Youth Image award in 2011.

There was also another cup for the best academic students sponsored by the Education minister and a gold medal as well as prizes from other sponsors. This award is given to the student who has excelled in the A-level examinations and the recipient is Salma Farook.

Salma also received an academic excellence award for having scored straight ‘A’s in the four subjects she was studying at Sals – Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.

She also got the best performer awards for Biology, Mathematics and Physics.
Academic performance awards were also presented to Anisa Chang Lai-Seng, Gulmette Bootna, Larry Leste, Ron Roucou and Lana Woodcock.

Best performer certificates and prizes for each subject were also presented to other students who have performed well. The best performer in Accounting also went to Manisha Kanbi; Geography – Joseph Moutou, Melissa Naiken and Ron Roucou; Chemistry – Anisa Chang Lai-Seng and Ron Roucou; Computing – Milun Dhanjee; Economics and History – Gilmette Bootna; French – Bryna Bellard; and English Literature – Rhea Rene. Apart from Salma, Ron Roucou also received the best performer award for Physics.

Ella Pool was rewarded for Sociology. None of the students met the criteria for an excellence award in Art and Design.
Two students – Estelle Lucas and Rhea Rene – were also presented with their French scholarships, offered by the French Embassy.
