Volleyball: National league-Premium Spikers rally past Neo Boyz for winning debut

Premium Spikers’ Lepathy, Frederick and Alcindor won the 136 minutes duel against Neo BoyzIt was a sour start for reigning best volleyballer Jones Mangroo and Ronny Essack who were playing their first match against their former club, since switching allegiance from Spikers to Neo Boyz at the beginning of the season.

In the duel which lasted 136 minutes, Premium Spikers won the first set 25-13, before falling behind 2-1, after losing the second and third sets 22-25 and 20-25 respectively. The boys of coach Bernard Denis however redeemed themselves in the fourth set which they won 25-18, sending the match in a fifth and decisive set. Premium Spikers won the set 15-12 and the match 3-2.

In the other men’s division one league match played, Beau Vallon bounced back from their SVF Shield defeat the previous week to win their first league match 3-0 against Anse Royale. The set scores were 25-7, 25-10 and 25-15. Racing Club won their encounter against BSA Spikers by walk-over.

In the women’s league division one matches, SVF Shield winners Cascade started the competition with a 3-0 (25-13, 25-07, 25-18) win over Praslin Volleyball Club, while rival Arsu beat Juniors by the same score. The set scores were 25-13, 25-19 and 25-8. 

Praslin Volleyball Club however corrected their mistakes in their second match against Santa West which they won 3-0 (25-15, 25-21, 25-15).

In two matches played, La Digue registered one victory and a loss.
In their fast match, they registered a 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-18) win over OSC Comets, while in their second match they lost 3-0 against Friends. The set scores were 15-25, 14-25 and 14-25.

In the only men’s league division two match played, Outsiders took 61 minutes to defeat new-comers Airwaves 3-0 (25-20,25-17,25-23).

In the women’s division two league, Roots Sisters defeated Aros 3-0 (25-07, 25-06, 25-05), while Island Girls came from two sets behind to beat Bel Ombre 3-2. The set scores were 20-25, 21-25, 26-24, 25-18 and 15-12.
