US Drone crashes, no injuries reported |05 April 2012

“The aircraft took off at 1.26pm and soon after reported it was encountering a technical problem,” said the SCAA in a statement.

“It turned back in an attempt to land at Seychelles International Airport, touched down on the runway and bounced a few times before ending up in the sea at the extreme southern end of the runway.”

The authority said the runway was temporarily closed for inspection and cleaning, and re-opened in time for the arrival of an Etihad Airways flight.

“The SCAA confirmed there were no injuries or damage to other property.”

The SCAA, the United Concrete Products Seychelles, the Seychelles Coast Guard and Seychelles Fire and Rescue Service Agency helped recover the wreckage.
