Safer working environment for radiology staff

Minister Larue accepts the donation from Mrs Quatre

A special badge which is used to monitor the amount of radiation health workers are exposed to was presented to the Minister for Health Mitcy Larue earlier this week at the Sheikh Khalifa’s Diagnostic Centre by the chief executive of the Seychelles Bureau of Standards, Amy Quatre.

Also present at the short handover ceremony was principal secretary for health Veronique Laporte, director for Labour Monitoring and Compliance in the labour department Keven Aglaé, head of Radiology Dr Radha Krishan Verma and other health workers.

According to the Ministry of Health the decision to allocate those badges to workers at risk followed an agreement reached between the International Atomic Energy Agency and Seychelles Bureau of Standards in collaboration with the Labour Department that all workers in this category be provided with the appropriate device to control the amount of dose they are exposed to.

The radiation reader will be managed by the Seychelles Bureau of Standards on behalf of the labour department.
