Youth animators boost knowledge in environment

The animators during the training session

This was during a one-day workshop held recently at the Mont Fleuri district administration.
It was initiated by the National Botanical Gardens Foundation (NBGF) in partnership with the department of community development and the Ministry of Education.

These NRA animators from all over Mahe attended the sessions which included various presentations by a number of experts in their fields.

Among the topics covered were eco-school programme, sustainable environment development, how to use the environment in the learning and teaching process and ‘the Botanical Gardens – our green heritage’.

Local freelance consultant Benjamin Vel also gave a presentation on leadership.

At the end of the workshop all delegates were taken on a tour of the Botanical Gardens at Mont Fleuri.

NBGF spokesperson Sharon Ernesta said the workshop aimed to help the animators better educate pupils entrusted in their care on environmental issues.

She said the training is also in line with the NBGF social corporate responsibility
