School Volleyball Championship: Secondary Four – Five-Plaisance and Pointe Larue top finishers |03 May 2012

The competition is jointly organised by the Seychelles Volleyball Federation (SVF), the National Sports Council and the Ministry of Education and it followed the same event for secondary one-three which took place the previous day.

In the girl’s competition, five teams – Plaisance, English River, Pointe Larue, Anse Royale and Beau Vallon – battled in two pools, before they engaged in a cross knock-out.

English River finished first in pool A, after winning both matches 2-0 (25-16, 25- 21) against Plaisance and 2- 1 (13-25, 25- 18, 15- 6) against Pointe Larue, while Plaisance finished second, after defeating Pointe Larue  2- 1 (18-25, 25-21, 15-12) in the other pool match.

In the other pool, Anse Royale beat Beau Vallon 2-0 to finish top. The set scores were 25-23 and 25-11.

In the semi-final, Plaisance defeated Anse Royale 2 -1 (30-28, 17-25, 15-13), while English River were victorious over Beau Vallon 2-0. The set scores were 25-16 and 25-20.

In the final, Plaisance won the first 25-15, only to see English River bounce back to win the second one 25-22, sending the match into a third and decisive set. Plaisance came out stronger to win the set 15-13 and the match 2-1 to win the title.

In the boys’ competition, four teams registered and Beau Vallon were placed in pool A alongside Anse Boileau, while Anse Royale clashed against Pointe Larue in pool B.

In the boys’ group, which was played on a league basis, Plaisance and Anse Royale were placed in the same pool, while the second pool featured English River and Pointe Larue.

In the preliminaries, Anse Boileau beat Beau Vallon 2-1 (25-20, 23-25, 15-10), while Pointe Larue were victorious over Anse Royale by the same score. The set scores were 25-16, 24-26 and 15-0.

The first semi-final featured Anse Royale against neighbours Anse Boileau, while Pointe Larue played against Beau Vallon in the second match.

Anse Royale beat Anse Boileau 2-0 (25-15, 25-18) to reach the final where they met Pointe Larue who beat Beau Vallon by the same score in second semi-final. The set scores were 25-19 and 25-21

Anse Royale were the stronger side in the final which they won 2-0 (25-19, 25-21) to win the title.
