Volleyball: National league-Premium Spikers, Beau Vallon joint leaders |10 May 2012

Both Spikers and Beau Vallon are on nine points from three wins in as many matches. They both have nine sets for and two against.

Beau Vallon, however, have a slight advantage thanks to a superior points difference.

Premium Spikers defeated BSA Spikers 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-18) in 64 minutes, while Beau Vallon needed an hour and 17 minutes to beat Neo Boyz 3-1 (25-13, 25-18, 25-27, 25-22).

Without a win in three games, BSA Spikers are glued to the bottom of the league table with three points, while Neo Boyz are fourth on five points from a win and two loses.

In the other men’s division one league match played, third-placed Racing Club took just 62 minutes to collect a 3-0 victory over Anse Royale. The set scores were 25-18, 25-17 and 25-19. Racing Club now have seven points after two wins and a loss, while Anse Royale are fifth on three points after three defeats.

In the women’s league division one, Arsu bounced back from the defeat against Friends in their previous league match to beat Santa West 3-0 and maintain top spot on the league table with 10 points after three wins and a loss. The set scores were 25-05, 25-21 and 25-05. The defeat keeps Santa West in seventh position with three points – three defeats in as many matches.

In another women’s top flight match, second-placed Cascade maintained their unbeaten record with a 3-0 (25-23, 25-13, 25-22) win over OSC Comets. The win was the third in a row for defending champions Cascade, while OSC Comets are fourth on six points – a win and three defeats in four matches.

In the men’s division two league, leaders La Digue extended their 100% winning record to four matches after collecting two victories at the weekend. In their first match on Saturday, La Digue came from a set down to beat Juniors 3-1 (23-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-20) and in their second match on Sunday they defeated Airwaves 3-1. The set scores were 25-21, 25-21, 21-25 and 25-12.

La Digue have a maximum 12 points and are comfortably leading the table ahead of second-placed Airwaves who are on six points after a win and three losses. As for Juniors, the defeat has pushed them into fourth place on four points with a win and a loss.

A 3-0 (25-15, 25-13, 25-22) win over St Louis Bombers kept Rainbow in top position on the women’s division two league table. They have a maximum 12 points from four matches. The defeat kept St Louis Bombers third on eight points after two wins and two losses in four matches.

Second-place Island Girls have also garnered 12 points from four wins, but they have an inferior set score difference of +8 compared to Rainbow’s +10. In their weekend match, Island Girls defeated seventh-placed Aros 3-0 (25-5, 25-4, 25-18).

In another match in the same division, Bel Ombre registered their first win of the season with a 3-0 win over bottom team Mont Fleuri. The set scores were 25-21, 25-9 and 25-12. Following the win, Bel Ombre now have six points from three losses and a single win, while Mont Fleuri are on three points after losing all their three games.
