Air Seychelles-Etihad partnership-Re-training programme on schedule |17 May 2012

The first 18 cabin staff of Air Seychelles who graduated on Monday last week is already serving on various Etihad Airbus flights to various destinations, including Dublin, Mumbai and Islamabad.

The practical experience will serve them in good stead when Air Seychelles takes delivery of its first Airbus, painted in its own livery, late June for flights to Johannesburg and Abu Dhabi.

By January, the Air Seychelles fleet will have a second Airbus, when they will also fly to Beijing and other destinations.

Meanwhile the second batch of cabin staff, due to graduate today, were Monday practicing serving food in service simulators. This follows the first part of the re-training, which was heavily focused on safety and aviation security.

These include getting ready for various scenarios, such as turbulence, decompression, smoke in the cabin, take-off, landing and crash landing.

The third cohort, who just flew in over a week ago and started re-training the very next day, were Tuesday involved in wet  ditching, practical drills, which mean evacuation in water.

As for the pilots, the first group of 12  are already more than half-way through the 12-week re-training programme.

The second group of six pilots is already at the Etihad Academy for training.
