Athletics-Fanny gets level one lecturer certificate

FANNY … IAAF level one lecturerFanny received his level one lecturer certificate after following a six-day course from May 5-10 at Kenya’s athletics regional development centre.

“I’m proud to have been able to become an IAAF lecturer,” Fanny told Sports Nation.

The former high hurdler added that he will soon be going to different primary schools to run workshops with kids in partnership with physical education instructors.

“I will do it in one school at a time and then run a bigger one for all primary schools. I also have the mandate of preparing other local coaches for the level one lecturer certificate,” said Fanny, who has represented Seychelles at the Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, All-Africa Games and Indian Ocean Island Games, among many other international meets.

A lab technician by profession, Fanny qualified as an athletics coach and received his diploma in early 2008 after following an IAAF-sponsored two-week course at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.

Fanny is Seychelles’ second track & field athletics lecturer after Joseph Volcy who is an IAAF level two lecturer. Volcy achieved this grade in March 2008 after having been a level one instructor since 1992.
