Activists march in solidarity with HIV/Aids victims

The march in progress

This 29th candlelight memorial march was organised by the Alliance of Solidarity for the Family (ASFF) under the theme: ‘Promoting health and dignity together’.

Among those who took part in the march -- which started at the Seychelles Hospital and went down the Le Chantier Road to the playground in Victoria -- were the Liaison Unit for Non-Governmental Organisations (Lungos) chairperson Bernard Elizabeth and ASFF chairperson Germaine Valentin, who got the honour to launch the event.

Mr Elizabeth said it is very encouraging to see more youths actively taking part in the march.
“It is vital to involve our youths in such an activity.”

He said “we have joined with other countries in the fight against HIV and Aids and we also ensure that it does not destroy our small country”.

Besides individuals, other people who took part in the march included members of several groups, staff of the Ministry of Health, representatives of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles and the Youth Health Centre.

The memorial march ended at the playground with animations by the ASFF’s Youth Action Movement and other partners.
