This was held in the presence of the sponsor representatives – the Island Development Company (IDC), member of the National Assembly for Grand Anse Lenny Lebon, general manager at Le Meridien Barbarons Imran Azhar, the school’s head teacher Sylvette Joubert, teachers, parents and pupils.

Mr Lebon, who approached the IDC with the idea of helping the Grand Anse Mahe primary school said he is pleased with the gifts and expressed his wish that they be used appropriately.

This gesture coincided with Children’s Day celebrations on June 1 and the gifts –  which included new tables and chairs, height measurers, cubby holes, toy kitchen sets, puzzles and alphabet mats  – is part of the IDC’s corporate responsibility, said its public relations manager Thelma Pool.

She also said the IDC has now taken Grand Anse Mahe primary under its wing as a new adoption and plans to do more for the school in future.

“This will include re-painting, repairs and basically keeping the school up to date and conducive to learning,” she said.
