Mixed Martial Arts-SBMA taking Martial Arts to another level

The Seychelles Street Blast Martial Arts Association (SBMA), registered under the provisions of the Registration of Associations Act in Seychelles, promotes and spread the arts around the country.

Initially co-founded by Denis Cesar, Regis Constance and Harry Rose in 2000, SBMA was fully active until 2005 when Cesar moved to the United Kingdom to join the Pancrase London and later the Hybrid Fight Team.

In 2007, he moved to Greece where he coached and competed actively and among his many achievements is his professional World Champion Kickboxing Title under the World Profi Kickboxing Association (WPKA).

Striking by using the Muay Thai techniqueWell experienced in Submission Grappling and MMA events in the UK and Greece, Cesar and presently living and actively coaching Functional Fitness & Mixed Martial Arts in Finland.

SBMA offers cutting edge cross-training and innovations in MMA, covering a variety of styles to remain effective against any type of opponent in the three phases of combat.

Striking from disciplines such as boxing, kickboxing and Muay Thai are trained to improve footwork, elbowing, kicking, kneeing and punching in the stand up game.

Clinch from disciplines such as judo, sambo, Japanese jujitsu prevent the opponent from moving away into more distant striking range and are also important in attempting throws or takedowns.

As for the Ground and Pound from disciplines such as Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling and grappling, they are trained to improve ground control and position, as well as to achieve submission holds and to defend against them.

SBMA focuses on what works, while its coaching programme is systematic, alive, performance and reality based, with no dead patterns such as katas, which only creates a Attempting the takedownfalse illusion of actual combat scenarios.

In other words, it is a programme of development and continuous application of techniques, fostering a gradual and steady growth of each and every individual.
  
Other than offering repertoire of combinations which are applied with accuracy from all the ranges of combat, the SBMA training programme which is abreast of the latest moves and the recent developments in MMA also boost one’s physique, fitness, self-confidence and self defense abilities.

Supported by the chairman and other executive committee members, Regis Constance is the head coach of the SBMA.

Anyone wishing to join the SBMA can come to the training sessions which take place on Mondays and Wednesdays at the English River Community Centre.
