Mason’s Travel supports Children’s Foundation

This was sealed during a meeting between the firm’s managing director Alan Mason and the foundation’s chairperson First Lady Natalie Michel on Wednesday morning at State House.

A cheque for R80,000 which will also go toward the foundation’s funds was presented to Mrs Michel.

Also present for the occasion were other staff of the firm and that of the foundation.

After the meeting and presentation Mr Mason said he got the chance to further learn about the foundation and its projects from Mrs Michel as well as discuss opportunities to give it a longer term support.

“Mason’s Travel has decided to have a five-year commitment with the foundation to give a helping hand,” he said.

He also explained that the cheque came about through an incentive group which the firm looked after during a trip here and as part of its activities, including a welcoming ceremony which was attended by children of the President’s Village based at Port Glaud.

“Through that, the group wanted to make a donation which we encouraged and they gave around R40,000 .”

And as this year is Mason’s Travel’s 40th anniversary, “we also decided to match that R40,000”, he added.

Mr Mason said this is just the first step to a more structured approach in support of this foundation.

The meeting also forms part of Mrs Michel’s bid to engage the business community in contributing towards the work of the foundation.
