Secondary children leaving school- Letter to the Editor |19 July 2012

In a country like ours where so many educational opportunities are being offered to our children, they should really love going to school to prepare themselves for their future and stick to it right through.

It is not sufficient to take punitive action or legally force the parents to send their children back to school. We should rather, first and foremost, look for the underlying reasons why so many children are dropping out of school and do something about it.

 Could it be an indication, in a wider context, of a certain malaise permeating our society?
