Reform of customs procedures to speed up accession of Seychelles to WTO |23 July 2012

The workshop is being organised by the Seychelles Revenue Commission in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance, Trade and Investment with the support of the European Union (EU).

It will be facilitated by the African Caribbean Pacific countries (ACP), Multilateral Trade System (MTS) Programme.

The purpose of the workshop is mainly to identify areas where Seychelles is currently not aligned to WTO best practices and require further capacity building.

At the end of the event, it is expected that the country will be in a better position to comply to the relevant WTO customs related agreements and improve its accession proceedings to the world trade body.

The workshop will bring together about sixty (60) delegates from key local target groups that will be implementing the agreements. It will also include participation from other ACP countries and institutions so that Seychelles can benefit from exchange of experience and knowledge.

The workshop is intended to be an interactive one, where participants will be able to provide more details about local situation or to add, comment, ask for recommendations for further programmes and/or technical assistance. It is also during this event that the manual of Customs Valuation will be validated.
