Students highlights importance of coco de mer through public speaking

The winning team from Pointe Larue secondary with Minister Payet

Initiated by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the competition was organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the Seychelles Islands Foundation.

Minister Payet presenting Dwayne Charles with the Overall Best Speaker awardThe winning team of Christine Vital, Dwayne Charles and Dominic Balette got the first prize trophy after discussing and debating on the conservation and protection of the coco de mer which was the theme chosen by the public speaking organisers.

Present at the event, held at the National Theatre, was the Minister for Environment and Energy Rolph Payet, chief executive of the Seychelles Islands Foundation Dr Frauke Fleischer-Dogley and director general for schools Odile Octave.

Other secondary schools which took part included La Digue, Praslin, Belonie, English River, Anse Boileau and Beau Vallon.

Anse Boileau came out second in the competition with Beau Vallon following in third place.
 
Overall Best Speaker award went to Dwayne Charles from winning school Pointe Larue secondary.
