Triathlon-Baldwin gets PB, wins amateur and 20-24 categories

Baldwin exiting the swim with the 6th fastest swim time of the dayThis good performance helped Baldwin win the amateur category and the 20-24 age group as well as finish second in overall out of 250 competitors.

His split times: 1.5km swimming in 21 minutes 22 seconds (sixth fastest), 40km cycling in 57 minutes 51 seconds (third fastest), and 10km running in 38 minutes 21 seconds (fourth fastest).

“I'm very pleased to have finished with a new PB, under the 2-hour mark, especially at such a high elevation where racing at high speed is much more difficult.

The Steamboat Springs is at an altitude of approximately 6600 feet,” Baldwin told Sports Nation.

Baldwin believes that consistency in training and racing has helped him achieve a second place and two third positions in three races in the last five weeks.

His immediate focus is on the Las Vegas Ironman 70.3 World Championships in three weeks’ time, which he said will be “a hard and fast day of racing over 4+ hours in the desert against some of the world's best triathletes.”
