20 nurses to attend regional meeting |31 August 2012

The Seychellois delegation will be attending pre-conference meetings and the conference which will be held from Wednesday to Friday next week, chairperson Elsia Sinon of the Nurses Association of the Republic of Seychelles said yesterday.

“The conference is being held under the theme, Acceleration towards attainment of Millennium Development Goals through revitalising primary health care: Nurses and midwives sharing high impact interventions,” she said.

The conference will include presentations of papers on nursing, as well as research findings on matters relating to the improvement of maternal and child health.

Other papers will be proposing ways of strengthening health systems and seeking innovations and excellence in nursing and midwifery.    Ecsacon holds biennial and quadrennial conferences that bring together nurses, midwives, clinicians, leaders, researchers, educators and other health related fields.

For many of the Seychellois delegates this will be their first exposure to an international nursing meeting. The conference will offer a forum for nurses and midwives to share knowledge and exchange professional experiences with colleagues within and outside the Ecsa region, so as to improve the quality of health care services.

The Seychellois’ trip has become possible after funds were raised through activities organised by the nurses association and private sponsors.
