Judo-Local fighters to follow training camps ahead of upcoming meets |14 September 2012

Ten young fighters – five boys and five girls – will take part in the camp as they prepare for the ninth Jeux de la Commission de la Jeunesse et des Sports de l’Océan Indien (CJSOI) in January 2014 in Djibouti, according to Seychelles Judo Federation (SJF) chairperson Monique Athanase.

While the younger fighters will be training for the Jeux de la CJSOI, the juniors and seniors are getting ready for the Abu Dhabi judo Grand Prix, an International Judo Federation event, which will be held at ADNEC from 11-13 October, 2012. More than 650 athletes from over 69 countries will compete.

“We hope to send 10 judokas to the Grand Prix,” said Ms Athanase who added that Dominic Dugasse, who took part in the recent Olympic Games in London, is in France preparing for the Abu Dhabi event.

Ms Athanase noted that local judokas will be in action again in October (26 and 27) in an international competition which the SJF will host.

She added that one of three French clubs have confirmed they will be taking part.

Another team from Mauritius have also confirmed their involvement in the two-day meet, while the SJF awaits confirmation from Reunion.
