Aviation authority backs Festival Kreol |17 September 2012

The donation was handed over to Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St Ange by SCAA’s chief executive Gilbert Faure, who pledged to continue supporting the event.

Thanking the SCAA officials present for the donation, Mr St Ange said:
“There would be no tourism without an airport and an aviation organisation to run it.”

He added that now that tourism and culture are linked under the same ministry, civil aviation has become the catalyst  to keep both going.

Recently, other donations were made to the Festival Kreol by Land Marine, Shelle Medical, Development Bank of Seychelles, Cave à Vins, Dobi Laundry Services and Gills Pest Control. The amount of the donations was not disclosed.

On Friday, Mr St Ange gave the press more details of the Festival Kreol in the presence of the chairperson of the fundraising committee, Giovanna Rousseau, and singer Joe Samy, whose composition “Lasezon Kreol in refleri” has been adopted as the theme song.

He envisages a spectacular launch at the International Conference centre (ICCS), which will last about an hour and beamed on big screen, followed by lively manifestations and popular rejoicing around the Clock Tower.

“There will be a new ‘élan’  from beginning to end,” he said.
 Several kiosks representing Mauritius, Reunion and other creolophone islands taking part will also be featuring their attractions in Victoria that evening.

For the first time, Praslin and La Digue will be showcasing themselves as separate tourism entities, with their own theme songs.

Besides Miss Seychelles, other pageant winners will include Miss Praslin, Miss La Digue, Miss Mauritius, Miss Reunion and Miss Rodrigues.

The weekend events, such as Dimans Kreol borlanmer will be held at Au Cap, with various stalls and other attractions from Val de Près to Pointe Au Sel Church. Usual events such as Bal asosye and Bal bobes also feature on the programme.
