Seychelles’ beauty queen supports heritage day activities |22 September 2012

A heritage open day had been organised there by the Seychelles Heritage Foundation, which is the organisation that works on cultural projects in Seychelles in collaboration with La Plaine St Andre.

The site is a national monument and is managed by the Trois Frères distillery.

The fun-day event was a chance for the public to visit the site and tour the grounds, learn about its various aspects, such as its historical features, garden of medicinal plants, rum distillery, and take part in the various games that were on that day, like petanque and domino.

A Creole buffet was also laid out for those who were in the mood for traditional local cuisine or merely wanted to have a family lunch while John Vital’s trio of musicians provided entertainment.
A variety of stands were also selling various craft work of different entrepreneurs.
 
Miss Furneau made her appearance in the early afternoon, where she focused on having fun with the children there who were involved in various fun activities such as face-painting, jewellery-making, among others.

Miss Furneau wasted no time in leading games of her own, both modern and traditional.

Speaking to Seychelles Nation, the Tourism and Events coordinator at La Plaine St Andre, Isabelle Houareau, said they had wanted to make the day one for families and that Miss Seychelles was the likely figure who would have a special appeal to the children.

Miss Furneau said she also had fun in spicing up the day for the children, and the event was an ideal setting for such interaction.
