President sends condolences to Panovsky family |25 September 2012

In a letter to the family, the President said that the sudden demise of Mr Panovsky was “a shock and deep sorrow”.

“...  He was a compassionate and experienced physician who devoted himself selflessly to his patients. Many have benefited from his expert care and treatment. They all testify to his kindness, his patience and sense of empathy. Dr George had an enduring love for his adopted homeland, Seychelles. Indeed, as the honorary consul of the Czech Republic to Seychelles, he tried everything possible to develop relations between the two countries.

He was also a very engaged member of his community, always trying to help the less fortunate. We shall miss Dr George for the gentleman he was and for the doctor he was with the perpetual smile who always had a kind word for those in his care,” said the President in his letter.

Dr George (Jiří) Panovsky was appointed honorary consul for the Czech Republic in Seychelles in 2001. He was senior consultant physician and consultant-in-charge for internal medicine at the Seychelles Hospital, where he worked for 21 years. He was also a member of the Diabetic Society of Seychelles and the Rotary Club of Seychelles.
