Soroptimist lottery to fund charitable activities

The money was raised through the sale of the club’s lottery tickets. Winners received their prizes recently during a short ceremony at the Oliaji Trade Centre.

Subash Chandra Sharma won the first prize – two return tickets to any destination served by Qatar Airways and US $600. This prize was sponsored by Qatar Airways and Dr Kingsley Labrosse.

The second prize – one return ticket to Nairobi and R5,000 sponsored by Kenya Airways and Island Construction Company – was won by Sharifa Jeannie, while the third prize – an 18 carat gold chain and diamond pendant sponsored by Kenwyn House – went to E. Rose.

There were 27 other prizes which included household items, cash prizes, beauty packs, electronic items, weekends in hotels, excursions and shopping vouchers.

The money raised will help fund be the ongoing breast cancer screening, the accommodation and tickets for two nurses in Mauritius who will be following a short oncology training and other activities for the less fortunate ones in society.
