Cycling-Pothin competes in Tour of Sharjah |23 November 2012

Mussie Asehel, who coached the Eritrea national cycling team to winning ….of gold medals at the recent African Cycling Championship in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, has been appointed head coach of the African team by the African Cycling Confederation (Cac).

The African team is made up of four cyclists – Seychellois Pothin, Eritrean Tesfom Ogbamariam, and two Egyptians.

A number of experienced cyclists from Greece, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Russia, Ukraine, Tunisia, Australia, France, Philippines, South Africa, Oman, Bahrain, Egypt, Algeria, Iraq and Qatar are taking part in Tour of Sharjah which comprises four stages – 90km road race, 120km road race, 170km road race and 100km circuit race. The UAE is expected to field two teams.

“This is the first time that such a high-level event is being organised here and we want to ensure we have the best riders coming to the UAE,” said Mohammad Mehrab Al Sabbagh, UAE cycling federation board member, director of finance and technical committee head, to the media this week.
