Subios 2012-Organisers host fun day for children |26 November 2012

This year, special attention was given to children and most of the activities held on Saturday were dedicated to them.

Activities during the fun-filled day included patch the fish on the reed, face painting, canoeing and snorkelling.

While some were enjoying on a bouncing castle, others were busy showing off their skills in sand sculpture.

The children had the chance to take part in various competitions organised by the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Environment and Energy, the Seychelles Tourism Board and other partners.

Environment and Energy Minister Prof. Rolph Payet, and Tourism and Culture Minister Alain St Ange gave out the prizes.

Prof. Payet said it is important that young people are taught the importance of preserving our ocean and added that it was interesting to see people who were much younger when Subios started and learned of the advantages to protect our ocean are now passing on their knowledge to others.

As for Minister St Ange, he said the ocean is very important to Seychelles as it is one of the unique selling points and is included in his ministry’s and the Seychelles Tourism Board’s every marketing strategy.

Activities for Subios 2012 ended yesterday with its closing ceremony late afternoon at Beau Vallon.

The poster and theme for Subios 2013 were to be revealed to the public during the closing
ceremony.
