Police asked to investigate three new cases of financial irregularities |09 January 2013

The three cases involved the Ministry of Education, Department of Environment, and Ministry of Health.

Following the audits, MFTI submitted the cases to the Attorney General’s Office (AGO) and after receiving the feedback of the AGO, it was felt that there are sufficient grounds for further investigation by the police.

Based on the outcome of the police enquiry, the Attorney General’s Chamber will consider instituting criminal prosecution against the persons involved should there be sufficient grounds to do so.

In order not to compromise the further investigation, the MFTI has said it will not entertain any questions or discussions on this matter until further directed or authorised to do so by the AGO.
