Local judokas on busy schedule-Judo

Local judokas have a busy schedule early this year

Speaking to Sports Nation during the weekend, Seychelles Judo Federation (SJF) chairperson Monique Athanase said the fighters have been training in two groups – one on Mahe and the other on Praslin – in preparation for overseas training camps and competitions.

Romanian coach Christian Velici is currently working with judokas on Mahe and chairperson Athanase has said that arrangements are being made for him to travel to Praslin to help Calix César with the training of fighters there.

A team of judokas are expected to leave on February 5 for France where they will train ahead of competing in the Paris Grand Slam slated for February 9-10.

The local judokas will continue to train in France after the Paris Grand Slam before travelling to Germany for the Grand Prix Seniors on February 23-24 in Düsseldorf.

From Germany, they will go back to France where they will train for another month before returning home on March 29.

By this time, the judokas should be ready physically and mentally to go onto the mat against African opponents in the 34th African senior judo championship in late April.

The exact dates are not known yet.
It is also not clear how many judokas will be taking part in the training camps in France.
