Red Cross passes on first aid skills

A practical session during the community-based training on Saturday

They followed a one-day community-based training on Saturday at the Red Cross Society of Seychelles’ (RCSS) headquarters at Providence.

RCSS programme manager Roy Nibourette said the training will equip these individuals with skills for them to be able to deal with related situations at home level.

Mr Nibourette said the training is in line with the RCSS’ strategic plan which aims to train one person in each household by the year 2016.

He added that this is a pilot project and it will be evaluated before using the training programme with other districts.

The project is being funded by Mangroves for the Future.
Another workshop funded by Croix-Rouge Française was also being conducted on the same day at the RCSS headquarters.

The workshop aimed to bring more awareness on disaster risk reduction at school level. Those taking part were teachers and Red Cross volunteers at school level.
