Air Seychelles helps boost carnival’s visibility

The carnival article published in the latest Silhouette magazine

The author of the two full page article entitled ‘Carnaval International de Victoria plans its 3rd edition in February 2013’ is Glynn Burridge.

The article recaps the second carnival, the island’s biggest party drawing thousands of people to the streets of Victoria for a raucous three-day celebration of music and laughter.

The second carnival drew the largest cohort of foreign press ever to land in Seychelles at any one time, and the islands witnessed live entertainment and cultural manifestations from both local and international groups.

Now with two successful carnivals already under its belt, Seychelles is gearing up for its third carnival set for February 8 -10, 2013.

Several international groups and countries including Notting Hill from the UK, South Africa, Brazil, La Reunion, Zimbabwe, Italy, United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Indonesia, Trinadad & Tobago, Belgium and India have confirmed their participation.

In his article, Glynn Burridge states that the carnival is placed in the “context of Seychelles culture and also its legacy of the very first carnival held in Seychelles in 1971.

“I also make the case that Seychelles with its multi-ethic, harmonious society and island-style spontaneity is a natural home for a carnival in troubled times on the international scene, showing what can be achieved by international camaraderie and good will. By hosting the third edition of the Carnaval International de Victoria, Seychelles is setting an example of harmonious living and co-operation between different people,” Mr Burridge writes.
