Chinese community set to welcome Year of the Snake |29 January 2013

The activities will begin with a mass at the Good Shepherd’s Church, Hermitage starting at 9am on that day.

This will be followed at noon by lunch at the Chinese Pagoda.
The activities will end with a dinner at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Resort & Casino starting at 7.30pm that same evening.

Tickets for the dinner cost R600 adults and R300 children and can be purchased at the Electronic showroom at Orion Mall.

Chinese New Year this year will be the Year of the Snake, ushering out 2012, the Year of the Dragon.  Chinese New Year, which is also known as Spring Festival or Lunar New Year is the most important holiday on the Chinese calendar and also the longest. 

It begins on the day of the new moon which is the first day of the first month of the year according to the Chinese calendar and ends on the full moon 15 days later culminating in a traditional Lantern Festival.  Chinese New Year in 2013 begins on February 10 and culminates in Lantern Festival on February 24, 2013.
