New programme to help in times of national disasters

The meeting yesterday with youth workers at which the new programme was launched

Chief executive of the council Vicky Van Der Westhuizen launched the ‘Let’s Bounce Back’ programme yesterday in the presence of director general for youth affairs Fatoumata Sylla.

The launch took place at the Youth Centre English River during a meeting with youth workers, the council’s affiliated members and representatives of non-governmental organisations.

As part of the programme, voluntary work will be undertaken tomorrow at the Pointe Larue secondary school which has been severely affected by the bad weather which hit the eastern part of Mahe recently.

Those present at the meeting were briefed of the work which needs to be done at the school so as to help get everything ready for classes due to start on Monday.

The programme will target young people aged between 16-35 years old but only those aged between 18-35 years old will be called for the work to be done tomorrow, starting at 9am.

Positive comments came from those present who commended the council for this good initiative and shared ideas on how to make it a successful programme.
