Work in progress to give Pointe Larue secondary school a fresh coat of paint

Work started shortly after 9am where volunteers gave a fresh coat of paint to the school.
Those who carried out the work included staff and past students of the school, workers of the Seychelles National Youth Council (SNYC) and youths from other districts.

Pointe Larue secondary school is one of the places severely affected by the bad weather which hit the eastern part of Mahé recently.

The school remained closed for a week to allow the compound and classes to be cleaned.
The ‘Let’s Bounce Back’ programme was launched last Friday at the Youth Centre English River by the council’s chief executive Vicky Van Der Westhuizen.

Young people aged between 16-35 years old will be able to join this programme and help in times of national disasters.

Apart from the young people, staff of the Seychelles Public Transport Corporation (SPTC), mainly drivers, were also giving a helping hand to clean up the school compound.

In a press release, the company said the activity is an initiative of the SPTC management team and is part of its corporate social responsibility programme.

The volunteers from the SPTC were also in other affected districts such as Cascade, Anse Aux Pins and Au Cap where they helped in doing landscaping work, cleaning up marshes, cutting branches, among other duties.
