Ephelia celebrates third anniversary

Mr Guitton addressing...During the evening, rewards were also given to employees who have shown great devotion and commitment towards their work in 2012.

The award for best employee of the year 2012 for front of house went to Marie-Agnes Joe, a villa host from the villa department.

Damien Agathine from maintenance department received the reward for best employee 2012 for back of house.

Rasika Fernando from the housekeeping department won the best supervisor for front of house while Jovani Arrisol from landscaping department was rewarded for being the best supervisor for back of house.

Addressing those present, Constance Hotels’ regional general manager Philippe Guitton thanked the employees for their devotion and hard work at the resort.

“The local and international demand on our hotel shows appreciation to the efforts and hard work put together by all our staff team members,” he said.

“And for this, I thank them immensely particularly those who are devoted with the company and still are with us since the pre-opening of the hotel in 2009.”

Mr Guitton added that the resort is committed to increasing and giving more skills to the Seychellois work force. There are 500 Seychellois working at Ephelia out of 780 employees.

...guests at the ceremony

He said Ephelia Resort has achieved quite a lot of awards to be proud of since its opening, such as Certificate of Excellence for 2012 as a highly rated resort by travellers on the world’s largest travel site TripAdvisor.

“The resort has also been certified as a Seychelles Sustainable Tourism Label Hotel, which will encourage eco travellers to stay with us and has received the 2012 Gold Circle Award by Agoda, which is Asia’s leading hotel booking website, recognising hotels that lead by example in the competitive hospitality industry,” he said.

“Ephelia has also been successfully awarded the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Certificate (HACCP) making it the first hotel on Mahé to become HACCP certified.”

The resort was recently awarded with the Holy award among the top 10 hotels in the world by the biggest Tour Operator in Europe ‘TUI’.

Ephelia has been built on 124 hectares by 1,200 workers and the hotel opened in February 2009 as per schedule.

“Ephelia Resort is a Seychellois hotel with a Seychellois chairman, managed and co-owned by Seychellois and Mauritian investors, the Constance Hotels Services Ltd so it is truly an Indian Ocean hotel,” he said.

The majority of its guests come from Europe, number one being French, followed by Germans and Italians.

Mr Guitton also thanked the local media, the Seychelles Tourism Board and the Seychelles Tourism Academy and all those who have contributed to the success of the resort’s operations for the last three years.

Cutting the anniversary cake

A raffle draw of five prizes for employees who have been working at Ephelia for the last three years was also held before guests at the ceremony enjoyed a dinner at the Corossol restaurant.

A third anniversary cake was also cut by the four employees who received rewards.
