Football-St Michel to play The Lions for charity |06 February 2013

The reigning Barclays league division one champions will meet last year’s second-tier champions The Lions in a charity match on Friday at Stad Linite. Kickoff is at 5.30pm and tickets cost R25.

Money raised from the sale of tickets for the charity encounter together with other financial contributions made by people inside the stadium -- as there will be a box going round -- will be given to the National Disaster Relief Fund to help people affected by the recent heavy rains which resulted in landslides and flooding.

During the weekend, St Michel made a fruitful trip to Praslin where they played against the island’s two first division sides at the Amitié Stadium.

In the first encounter on Friday they beat LightStars 4-1 and the following day they earned a 2-0 victory against Côte d’Or, who won the Airtel Cup, then lost the Land Marine Cup final to Anse Reunion and finished third in the Barclays league division one in 2012.
