Football-More support for local teams during the 2013 season

SFF boss Chetty hands over part of the equipment to Northern Dynamo manager Clive Delorié as vice-chairman Henriette and secretary general Adela look on

Mr Chetty was addressing team managers and representatives before presenting equipment, mainly football boots and footballs to all registered teams of the three divisions in the local league sponsored by the Barclays Bank.

The ceremony, held on Wednesday at the Maison Football, Roche Caïman, was attended by SFF vice-chairman Roch Henriette, secretary general Jemmy Adela as well as SFF executive committee members.

Mr Chetty said the SFF finds it important to begin the new season with the donation as it will help the teams to make a better start and also be a boost, as it will reduce their spending budget at the beginning of the season.

All teams received 20 pairs of football boots, eight footballs, one pump and one captain’s arm band.

All youth teams playing in the under-11, under-13, under-15, under-17 and under-20 leagues will also receive equipment.

Mr Chetty also announced that the federation will hold a special meeting prior to its general annual meeting to present the teams with the new rules and regulations for the 2013 season.

Meanwhile, the SFF is organising a charity match today between reigning Barclays league division one champions St Michel and last year’s second-tier champions The Lions. Today’s match at Stad Linite will start at 5.30pm and tickets cost R25.

Money raised from the sale of tickets for the charity encounter together with other financial contributions made by people inside the stadium -- as there will be a box going round -- will be given to the National Disaster Relief Fund to help people affected by the recent heavy rains which resulted in landslides and flooding.
