Bartenders upgrade their skills

The opening session of the course on Wednesday at the ICCS

The session, initiated by the Seychelles Breweries Limited, was held at the International Conference Centre.

Led by Nkosana Ndlovu and Sifiso Maphanga from South African company Thirst, the training aimed to equip the local bartenders with skills on how to provide good services to clients, knowledge on the brands and spirit production, basic skills of bartending, tools of the trade, bartender etiquette among others.

The training is part of Thirst’s programme Master Bar Academy which is Africa’s largest bar training programme.

Bartenders working on Praslin and La Digue will also be taking part in a similar session and throughout this week workshops were also organised for other bartenders on Mahé.
Those wanting to know more about the Master Bar Academy programme can do so via Facebook https://www.facebook.com/JohnnieWalkerMasterBartender
Bartenders can also interact with each other and share new knowledge, experience and skills.

After this session, bartenders will have to complete two more modules.
The next step will be to answer questions via SMS system later during the year to see how much the bartenders have grasped, if the new skills and knowledge are being put into practice and to reinforce what has been learned.

Those who score the highest points will be chosen for the next module which will be a practical one, which will be evaluated by the Master Bar Academy.
The best bartender will then be chosen and prizes will be awarded.
