The two catamarans named Coyotte and Mitsio were intercepted on Friday February 22 by the SCG patrol ship Topaz, during a routine patrol in the outer islands, some 555 nautical miles south west of Mahé.

The two vessels were fishing for sea cucumbers within the lagoon of Cosmoledo Atoll without a valid licence, according to a communiqué from the SCG.

The two vessels and their 27 crew are being escorted to Port Victoria where they will be handed over to the Seychelles Fishing Authority (SFA) and the Seychelles police.
