Athletics: Sixth Seychelles Eco-Friendly Marathon-Charitable cause adds to marathon’s promotion list |28 February 2013
A group of German runners, including Sigrid Eichner, who has completed 1,751 marathons, and compatriot Lutz Sproessig, who was attempting his 100th race, yesterday made a donation of athletics clothes to the Pointe Larue secondary school.
The ceremony was attended by race director Giovanna Rousseau, the school’s head teacher Jina Labiche, teachers and athletes from the school.
Other than their active involvement in the sixth marathon, the Pointe Larue secondary was selected for the donation after being affected by the flooding following the bad weather earlier this year.
The group has promised to be back next year and also pledged more support to the young athletes in the future.
The school’s young athletes who took part in the marathon were honoured by Mrs Eichner and Mr Sproessig who presented them with their certificates.
The two record breakers were also presented with a token for the achievements.
