Volleyball-Pointe Larue retain boys’ title, English River new girls’ winners |02 March 2013

The competition was played yesterday at the Palais des Sports. 
Pointe Larue started the defence of their title with a preliminary round 2-0 (25-19, 25-11) win against Anse Royale before dispatching Anse Boileau 2-0 (26-24, 25-17) in the semifinal.

In the final, they met Plaisance whom they beat in straight sets – 2-0 (25-23, 25-16).
Losing finalists Plaisance earned a win by walk-over in their first match against Mont Fleuri and eliminated English River thanks to a 2-0 (25-18, 25-15) victory in the semifinal.

The girls’ final between English River and Beau Vallon was an interesting one as the former came from a set down to win the title.

After losing the first set 22-25, the English River players upped their game to take the second 25-16 and tie the score at 1-1. They went on to easily win the decisive third set 15-3 to be crowned champions.

The champions did not drop a set until reaching the final. They posted a 2-0 (25-19, 25-22) victory over Pointe Larue and dispatched Plaisance 2-0 (26-24, 25-16) in the semifinal.

As for Beau Vallon, they needed three sets for a 2-1 (15-25, 25-23, 16-14) win to eliminate Anse Royale before beating Anse Boileau 2-0 (25-23, 25-23) in the semifinal.
