SLA revokes retailer’s liquor licence |19 March 2013

The Seychelles Licensing Authority (SLA) board said this in a press communiqué released yesterday.

The communiqué added that the offence occurred on March 8, 2013 whereby a schoolboy in uniform was sold alcoholic liquor by an employee of the store.

“The SLA board considers this a very serious breach of the law and has therefore taken strict action against the retailer,” said the communiqué.

The SLA board has also recommended revocation of the gainful employment permit (GOP) of the employee of the store concerned, who sold the alcohol to the under-aged person, thus committing an offence under the laws of Seychelles.

The communiqué added that the SLA board will continue to take strict measures against any retailer who contravenes the laws for sale of alcohol. This includes the legal hours that have been recently imposed for the sale of alcohol.
