Health urges public to keep away from polluted lagoon |21 March 2013

The public is being urged not to use the lagoon and the two outlets from the lagoon for any activities such as fishing, bathing, walking, boating, canoeing or any other leisure or recreational activities.

Fishermen are also strongly requested not to use the sea water from the lagoon area of Le Rocher and Roche Caïman area for washing fish, the market benches or other commonly-used contact surfaces.

Members of the public are being reminded to follow all warning signs which have been placed in the affected areas for their own safety to avoid any health risks or problems that could arise as a result of the pollution.

The public health services have reported that they are working in very close collaboration with other relevant agencies to mitigate the impact and ensure the containment of the pollution.
