Seychelles Swimming Association’s sponsored swim series-Race winners’ times go down as records |21 March 2013

The Roche Caïman pools hosted the series, which will comprise eight days of swimming ending on August 16.

Male and female swimmers will compete in four age groups – 9 years and under, 10-11 years, 12-13 years, and 14 years and over.


They will take part in all four strokes – freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly and backstroke – and over three distances – 50m, 100m and 200m.

Competitors will be awarded points, starting with 20 points for first place, 18 for second, 16 for third, 14 for fourth, 12 for fifth, 10 for sixth, 9 for seventh, 8 for eighth, 7 for ninth, 6 for 10th, 5 for 11th, 4 for 12th, 3 for 13th, 2 for 14th and 1 for 15th and any other finish.

All times registered in the 12 events being raced for the first time will go down as new records, and swimmers will get an extra two points if they break the competition records in the following series.

At the end of the eight series, the points will be added up and the top-three finishers in each age category will receive prizes. There will also be two special prizes for the two highest point getters.

The Seychelles Swimming Association, which is running the competition, is calling on members of the public to help with officiating.
The next rendezvous is on Friday April 5 with 50m butterfly, 100m freestyle and 200m breaststroke.
The others have been scheduled for April 26, May 17, June 14, July 5 and 26, and August 16.

The race winners of the first series were Aisha Khan (female 9 years and under 50m freestyle in 52.11 seconds, 100m breaststroke in 2 minutes 25,46 seconds), Joshua Miller (male 9 years and under 50m freestyle in 44.33 seconds, 100m breaststroke in 2 minutes 00.66 seconds), Therese Soukup (female 10-11 years 50m freestyle in 39.34 seconds, 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 56.2 seconds), Hayden Ah-Wan (male 10-11 years 50m freestyle in 32.08 seconds, 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 42.84 seconds), Lenel Ah-Wan (male 10-11 years 200m backstroke in 3 minutes 01.90 seconds), Charlotte Passon (female 10-11 years 200m backstroke in 4 minutes 14.1 seconds), Martina Chionni (female 12-13 years 50m freestyle in 35.01 seconds), Samuele Rossi (male 12-13 years 50m freestyle in 35.27 seconds), Sophie Bouchereau (female 12-13 years 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 49.93 seconds and 200m backstroke in 2 minutes 35.2 seconds), Graig Siméon (male 12-13 years 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 44.03 seconds), Adam Viktora (male 14 years and over 50m freestyle in 25.64 seconds), Melissa Jeanne (female 14 years and over 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 31.41 seconds), Pierre-Andre Adam (male 14 years and over 100m breaststroke in 1 minute 13.22 seconds), Felicity Passon (female 14 years and over 50m freestyle in 29.67 seconds, and 200m backstroke in 2 minutes 44.31 seconds), Dean Hoffman (male 14 years and over 200m backstroke in 2 minutes 47.00 seconds).
